Mailchimp CSV to PostgreSQL Converter

Paste a Mailchimp CSV export and get ready-to-run PostgreSQL: a CREATE TABLE statement with inferred column types and INSERT statements for every row, plus the COPY command for large files. Everything runs in the browser — the CSV never leaves the page.

Convert your export

Paste a CSV export to generate SQL. Nothing is uploaded.

How it works

  1. Export the audience, segment, or report from Mailchimp as CSV — the on-site Mailchimp CSV guides cover each export type.
  2. Paste the CSV above and set the table name. Column names are sanitized to lowercase PostgreSQL identifiers: spaces and special characters become underscores, leading digits get a prefix, and empty headers become column_1, column_2, and so on.
  3. Copy the CREATE TABLE statement and the INSERT statements into psql, or use the COPY command for large files: save the CSV, then run \copy table_name FROM 'file.csv' WITH (FORMAT csv, HEADER true).
  4. Check the row count after loading: the converter reports how many rows it generated, and the count should match the CSV's data rows.

Quoted fields, embedded commas, and doubled quotes are parsed as CSV requires — a name like "Doe, Jane" stays one field. Type inference reads the first 100 data rows: a column that is all whole numbers becomes INTEGER, decimals become DOUBLE PRECISION, true/false and yes/no become BOOLEAN, ISO dates become TIMESTAMP, and anything mixed or textual becomes TEXT. Email addresses, names, and tags stay TEXT, as they should.
