Name Change Court Fee Lookup
The filing fee is never the whole cost of a name change, but it is the first cost, and it varies more than any other figure in the process: $65 in New York City Civil Court and $210 in Supreme or County Court for the same order, $98 or $268 in Colorado depending on the court, a flat $124 in Oregon. Pick a state and see the filing fee the state guide states, plus the fee that follows it — publication, fingerprints, or recording — and the waiver form where one exists.

How to read the result
- The fee follows the court, not the name. Colorado's fee depends on whether you file in county or district court; New York's depends on which courthouse door you use. Pick the court first, then read the fee.
- Add the second cost. Publication in California and Colorado, fingerprints in Texas, Florida, and Colorado, and recording in Washington all sit outside the filing fee. The result names the second cost for each state.
- Ask about the waiver. Every state in this set offers a fee waiver or deferral for filers who cannot afford the fee, under a form name that varies by state. The result names the waiver route where the guide states one.
