Registration Renewal Window Calculator
Enter your expiration date and your state, and see the dates that matter: when the grace period ends, when the late fee starts, and when online renewal closes. Computed from the published rules, not guessed.
Calculate your renewal window
Pick a state and an expiration date.
How to use the result
- Enter the expiration date printed on your registration. The calculator counts forward from that date, not from today.
- The grace end is the last free day. Where a state publishes a grace rule, the calculator shows the date it ends. Where no rule is published, it says so; do not assume extra days.
- The online cutoff is the last online day. New York closes online renewal one year after expiry, Colorado blocks it after 13 months, and Virginia keeps it open 90 days past expiry with the late fee. Past the cutoff, renewal means re-registration or a county office visit.
- Check the late fee separately. The late fee lookup gives the amount that applies once the window closes.
