How to Export Mailchimp Automation Reports

Automation reports live on a different path from campaign reports, and the combined Download All Reports export leaves them out entirely. Export each flow on its own, from its Step analysis section.

The automation report export in one table

Question Answer
What you get A CSV spreadsheet containing your automation flow's performance data
Export path Click Automations, then click All flows. Find the automation, click View Report, and in the Step analysis section, click Export CSV.
Combined export No. You can export statistics for all of your campaigns, except automations, in a single spreadsheet — automations must be exported one flow at a time.
Subscriber-level detail No. Subscriber-specific statistics, like which subscribers opened the campaign or clicked a link, are not included in the exported report; export the individual open and click reports for that level of detail.
Campaign path works? No — the steps to download a report vary depending on the campaign type, and automations have their own path through Automations → All flows → View Report.

What makes automation reports different

Two things set automation exports apart from campaign exports. First, the navigation is different: you start from Automations, not Campaigns, and the download button sits in the Step analysis section of the flow's report — the per-step breakdown is the thing being exported, not the summary of a single send. Second, the combined export does not cover them at all: Mailchimp's help page states you can export statistics for all of your campaigns, except automations, in a single spreadsheet. If your reporting has to include flows, there is no bulk shortcut — budget one export per flow.

The process, step by step

  1. Open your flows. Click Automations, then click All flows. Find the automation, click View Report, and in the Step analysis section, click Export CSV.
  2. Repeat for each flow you need. No. You can export statistics for all of your campaigns, except automations, in a single spreadsheet — automations must be exported one flow at a time.
  3. If you need subscriber-level detail, export the open and click reports separately. No. Subscriber-specific statistics, like which subscribers opened the campaign or clicked a link, are not included in the exported report; export the individual open and click reports for that level of detail.
  4. Do not expect the combined export to fill the gap. Download All Reports (Campaigns → View analytics → Download All Reports → Generate Export) covers campaigns only, so check your automation CSVs separately before calling a reporting period complete.
  5. For a one-off sent campaign, use the campaign path instead. The campaign report guide covers Regular, Plain-Text, A/B, Multivariate, and RSS reports via Campaigns → View report → Actions → Export CSV.

The click paths and limitations on this page come from Mailchimp's own help documentation: Mailchimp — Download a Campaign Report. Facts verified 2026-10-24.

This page explains how the process works and what the official documentation says. It is general information, not advice about your specific account or data — exporting reports downloads a copy of your data, so store the file somewhere only people who should see your automation performance can reach it.
