Before you claim

Search every state where you lived, worked, or held an account, because property is held by the state the holder reported it to, not by the state you live in now. If the owner has died, the claim runs through the estate or the heirs instead of the owner. See How to Claim Unclaimed Property for a Deceased Relative for that process. Not sure which portal is yours? Use the Unclaimed Property Finder to get your state portal and its proof list.
